No Bollywood, no luxury life: Akshay Kumar son is doing a Rs 4,500 per month job, living in villages for his passion

Actor Akshay Kumar recently spoke candidly about his son Aarav Bhatia, explaining that the young man has deliberately chosen not to follow the familiar route into films. Akshay clarified that Aarav has no inclination toward acting and instead wants to carve out a future in the fashion world. During his interaction with Shubhankar Mishra, he emphasized that his son is determined to pursue his own ambitions rather than rely on his family’s film legacy.

Learning the Craft from the Ground Up

Akshay further revealed that Aarav has already begun working and is gaining practical experience step by step. He mentioned that his son earns a modest income through his job, highlighting that such early exposure to work is valuable. According to Akshay, Aarav is not chasing shortcuts but is instead focused on understanding the basics of his chosen field. He also shared that Aarav travels to rural areas to study traditional techniques, observing local textiles, patterns, and craftsmanship to deepen his knowledge of fashion.“He is working and earning around Rs 4,500 through a job. Why shouldn’t he? It’s a good thing. These days, he goes to villages and all. He’s learning fashion from there—understanding different kinds of prints and everything..” he said.

A Shared Mindset and Discipline

Reflecting on their relationship, Akshay noted that while every individual has unique traits, he and Aarav share several similarities. He pointed out that both of them prioritize fitness and maintain a disciplined approach to their routines. Aarav, like his father, is deeply committed to his interests and approaches his work with seriousness and dedication.

A Simple Approach to Parenting

When discussing his parenting style, Akshay explained that he avoids lengthy advice or constant guidance. Instead, he believes in offering a single, clear principle: one should never cause harm or pain to others. Beyond that, he allows his son the freedom to make his own choices and learn from his experiences, trusting him to shape his own journey.

A Life Rooted in Simplicity

Aarav Bhatia, the son of Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna, has consciously stayed away from public attention. He moved to London as a teenager to continue his education and has since been living independently, managing everyday responsibilities like cooking and maintaining his space.

Passion for Fashion and Personal Growth

Currently focused on fashion design, Aarav is keen on learning directly from grassroots traditions, especially indigenous fabrics and village artistry. Alongside his creative pursuits, he has also trained extensively in martial arts, earning a black belt in Kudo and achieving recognition in judo. Despite belonging to a prominent film family, he remains committed to building his own identity quietly, choosing discipline and self-reliance over the spotlight.
“Voh bechara aaj bhi 4500 rupess ki naukri kar raha hai. Acchi baat hai, kyun nahi? (He’s still working a Rs 4500 job even today. It’s a good thing, why not?) He is going to villages and learning fashion from there, different kinds of prints and everything. I don’t lecture him much, but I have told him not to harm anyone,” Kumar said.In an earlier conversation with cricketer Shikhar Dhawan, Akshay revealed that Aarav made a bold and life-altering decision when he chose to step away from home at just fifteen in order to continue his education abroad. Akshay Kumar, acknowledged that the idea initially made him uneasy, as it is never easy for a parent to see their child leave at such a young age. However, he ultimately supported the move, recognizing a reflection of his own past in his son’s determination. Having himself left home as a teenager to pursue his ambitions, he understood the courage it takes to step into the world independently.

In the same interview, Kumar praised his son for his thrift. “He does his own laundry, he is a good cook, does the utensils and doesn’t even want to buy expensive clothes. In fact, he goes to a second-hand store, Thrifty, to buy clothes because he doesn’t believe in wastage,” he stated.

Akshay Kumar was last seen headlining the horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla. Directed by Priyadarshan, the movie brings together a notable lineup of actors such as Paresh Rawal, Jisshu Sengupta, Rajpal Yadav, Tabu, and Wamiqa Gabbi.

The film also marks Priyadarshan’s comeback to the Hindi horror-comedy space following Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Interestingly, both projects feature several common actors, including Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Asrani, and Manoj Joshi, reflecting the director’s continued creative association with this group of performers.

Bhooth Bangla was released in cinemas on April 17, 2026.
