Bollywood star Akshay Kumar says his son Aarav Bhatia has no interest in joining films and is focused on building a career in fashion. Sharing insights into Aarav’s career plans, the actor said his son is currently working a modest job and learning fashion in villages, choosing a path far removed from the glamour of the film industry.
In an interview with Shubhankar Mishra, Akshay spoke about their similarities and Aarav’s clarity of thought. He said, “We are both very alike. He is into health, and so am I. He is a tall boy and very focused. He loves working. But he doesn’t want to join films. He doesn’t have any such plan. He wants to be in fashion.”
The actor further revealed that Aarav has already begun working at the grassroots level, gaining hands-on experience. “Voh bechara aaj bhi Rs 4,500 ki naukri kar raha hai. Acchi baat hai, kyun nahi (he still has a Rs 4,500 job. It’s a good thing, why not)? He is going to villages and learning fashion from there, different kinds of prints and everything. (sic)”
On his parenting approach, Akshay shared that he believes in giving his children space rather than imposing strict guidance. “I don’t give lectures – not to anyone, especially not to my son. Just one thing: don’t harm anybody. Don’t hurt anyone. That’s it. The rest, he should handle his own life.”
Born in 2002, Aarav is the eldest child of Akshay Kumar and author-actor Twinkle Khanna. He moved abroad at the age of 15 for higher studies and is currently studying at a university in London. Unlike many star kids, Aarav prefers to stay away from the limelight, while his younger sister Nitara, born in 2012, often features on Twinkle’s social media.
On the work front, Akshay Kumar’s latest film Bhooth Bangla hit theatres on April 17. The horror comedy is directed by Priyadarshan, and features an ensemble cast including Paresh Rawal, Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi and Rajpal Yadav. Akshay will next be seen in Welcome To The Jungle alongside Jackie Shroff, Raveena Tandon, Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez and Arshad Warsi. The film is slated to release in theatres on June 26.
