Capital-A Anchors $750,000 Pre-Seed Investment in Quintrans to Advance Indigenous Linear Motion Systems | Machine Maker – Latest Manufacturing News | Indian Manufacturing News – Latest Manufacturing News | Indian Manufacturing News

Capital-A, India’s dedicated venture capital firm focused on manufacturing and deep technology, has led a $750,000 pre-seed funding round in Quintrans, an engineering-led startup building direct-drive linear motion technologies designed and manufactured in India. The round also saw participation from Sumeet Kabra of RR Global, SanchiConnect, AIC-Pinnacle, and other strategic backers, along with continued support from IIMA Ventures.

Founded by MIT Pune alumni Pranay Luniya, Kartik Kulkarni, Aniruddha Atigre, and Prasanna Kadambi, Quintrans is developing advanced electromagnetic and electromechanical linear motion components that deliver frictionless operation, high speeds, and micron-level accuracy. By pursuing an India-centric design and manufacturing approach, the company aims to offer cost-effective solutions with faster deployment and dependable local service, positioning itself as a competitive global supplier under the “Make in India” framework.

The newly raised capital will be used to set up an in-house manufacturing and advanced testing facility in Pune, accelerate research and development in electromagnetic actuation, and build the core engineering and operations teams needed for commercialisation. India produced and sold an estimated 6.8 million actuators in FY 2022, with demand expected to grow to 10–11 million units by FY 2026, driven by sectors such as automotive, industrial automation, HVAC, and marine systems. Quintrans’ long-term goal of manufacturing close to 500,000 actuators annually by 2030 positions it as a significant domestic challenger in a market currently dominated by multinational players like SMC, Festo, and LinMot.

Pranay Luniya, Founder and CEO of Quintrans, said the company’s focus is on building reliable, end-to-end linear motion systems engineered in India. He noted that the funding will help move the company closer to commercial readiness by strengthening development capabilities and manufacturing infrastructure.

Ankit Kedia, Founder and Lead Investor at Capital-A, said Quintrans stands out for combining deep technical expertise with a strong understanding of industrial requirements. He added that the team has shown early signs of building a credible alternative to established global suppliers in a critical industrial segment.

Capital-A is India’s pioneering venture capital firm dedicated exclusively to manufacturing-led innovation, with investments spanning hardware, deep technology, and climate-focused startups. Established in 2021, the fund supports early-stage companies in advanced manufacturing that require long-term commitment and patient capital to scale. Capital-A is currently investing from its ₹400 crore second fund and has backed over 20 startups, including Matchlog, Tan90, Agrileaf, and Manastu. Beyond capital, the firm partners closely with founders by providing strategic guidance, access to industry networks, and sustained operational support to enable responsible, long-term growth.

Quintrans is an engineering-driven deep technology company focused on building direct-drive electromagnetic linear motion solutions for industrial use. Its systems deliver smooth, high-speed, and highly precise motion, making them suitable for applications in robotics, warehouse automation, and advanced manufacturing. Founded in 2021 by four engineering graduates from MIT Pune, Quintrans is developing indigenous motion technologies designed to meet global industrial performance standards.
