The 2026 Met Gala Was All About Naked Dressing

Attendees of the Met Gala are certainly no strangers to naked dressing—year after year, we see A-listers try their take on barely there dressing with sheer gowns, lingerie-inspired looks, and more. In 2024, Elle Fanning wore a glass-like gown from Balmain that made her look like an IRL princess, while Emily Ratajkowski dipped into the Versace archives that same year for a transparent look adorned with thousands of crystals. Needless to say, each year the carpet is filled with plenty of riffs on sheer and delicate looks.

With this year’s exhibition theme revolving around the concept of “Costume Art,” and exploring an array of different body types across art and fashion, we knew we would see more interpretations of “naked dressing” than ever before. From Gigi Hadid in Miu Miu to Kendall Jenner in GapStudio, below find a roundup of our favorite looks from the night.
