The Kroger Co. said customers are increasingly prioritizing speed, cost and convenience when shopping for groceries online, as the company rolls out its Online Deal Days.
The supermarket chain said the promotion will run from April 22 through May 5, offering discounts tied to its pickup and delivery services. The company said the event includes incentives such as discounts on initial online orders and free delivery thresholds, along with digital coupons on select store-brand products.
Jody Kalmbach, a company vice president overseeing digital experience and ecommerce, said in a statement that customers are seeking flexibility and value when ordering groceries online.
Kroger reported that customers using delivery services save an average of 47 minutes per order, while those using pickup save about 29 minutes. The company also said its express delivery service can arrive in as little as 30 minutes, with peak ordering times in the late afternoon and Sundays being the most active day.
The retailer said it can deliver groceries in under two hours from most of its approximately 2,700 U.S. stores.
Among commonly purchased items, Kroger said boneless chicken breast under its Heritage Farm label is the top pickup item, while strawberries supplied by Driscoll’s lead delivery orders.
The company also highlighted its subscription program, Boost by Kroger Plus, saying members reported average annual savings on fuel and groceries.
Kroger’s promotion comes as grocery retailers continue expanding online services, with pickup and delivery options remaining a key area of competition across the industry.
