Abhishek Bachchan on modern parenting and daughter Aaradhya
During a recent interaction with IFP, the actor opened up about a rather unusual choice he has made as a father, he has never asked Aaradhya what she thinks about his films. Explaining his reasoning, Abhishek admitted that he consciously avoids knowing her opinion because it could impact the way he approaches his work. He said he prefers to keep that curiosity unresolved in his mind, rather than risk letting her response, whether positive or critical, change his creative instincts. In his words, he would rather hold on to his own perception than let reality reshape it.
The actor further opened up about how parenting has evolved over the years, especially with today’s generation of children. According to him, “Children today are very confident and know exactly what they want. They’re very good at communicating it. For people of my generation, it can sometimes be difficult to just listen, because they are brutally honest, and while they should be, it’s not always what you want to hear. As a parent, I want to do the work I believe in without being influenced by her opinion right now. Maybe that will change with time.”
Moreover, Abhishek did not completely rule out the possibility of asking Aaradhya someday. He shared that perhaps in the future, when she is older and has her own life experiences, he might feel more comfortable seeking her perspective. For now, though, he maintains that he would rather not know, even joking that she might eventually share her thoughts anyway without being asked.
