The matter came to light after Anish filed a complaint at the Adugodi police station on 11 February. According to the complaint, the director had recently moved from Bengaluru to Mumbai and had been in contact with a female actor friend in Indiranagar regarding plans to sell his car.
Police stated that the accused lured Anish back to Bengaluru under the pretext of helping him sell his vehicle. On the night of 9 February, he was allegedly kidnapped from a location within Adugodi police station limits and taken to a house under the jurisdiction of Byadarahalli police station, where he was confined.
Brutal Beating and Robbery
Five to six individuals reportedly assaulted Anish with cricket stumps and hockey sticks, stealing the gold ornaments he was wearing and Rs 30,000 in cash. The group later transported him by car to Mandaragiri Hill near Panditanahalli in Tumakuru district, where two additional individuals allegedly joined in and assaulted him again.
Investigation and Arrests
Following Anish’s complaint, police registered a case of kidnapping and assault at Adugodi police station. Investigators pursued multiple leads and secured the arrest of a total of 11 accused, including the female actor.
Police recovered six mobile phones linked to the crime, along with gold ornaments, cash and the car used in the offence. The accused were produced in court and remanded to custody, with further investigation ongoing.
Financial Dispute Cited as Motive
According to police sources, the incident stemmed from a financial dispute between Anish and an investor in his upcoming Kannada film, Jeevanada Bhashe, which has yet to be released.
