New Delhi, Jan 17 (KNN) The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) has welcomed the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) decision to extend export incentives under Duty Drawback, RoDTEP and RoSCTL to shipments made via postal channels in electronic form, effective 15 January 2026.
Support for MSMEs and E-Commerce Exports
FIEO President S C Ralhan described the move as a progressive and long-awaited step that will significantly benefit MSMEs and e-commerce exporters, particularly those in smaller towns and remote areas who rely on postal channels.
He said, “The decision will enhance competitiveness, reduce transaction costs, and give a strong impetus to postal exports, an emerging driver of cross-border e-commerce.”
Regulatory Updates
To operationalize these benefits, CBIC amended the Postal Export (Electronic Declaration and Processing) Regulations, 2022, through Notification No. 07/2026–Customs (N.T.) and Circular No. 01/2026–Customs, both issued on 15 January 2026.
Complementing Broader Government Reforms
Ralhan noted that the measures align with broader government efforts to promote e-commerce exports, including provisions under the Foreign Trade Policy 2023, end-to-end electronic processing of postal shipments, automated IGST refunds, the Hub-and-Spoke model, and over 1,000 Dak Niryat Kendras nationwide.
He added that the extension of export incentives to postal shipments represents a key milestone in simplifying export procedures, promoting inclusive growth, and strengthening India’s position in the global e-commerce landscape.
