## ICAR IGFRI Jhansi Recruitment: Junior Research Fellow Position in Guinea Grass Genetics
The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) – Indian Grassland and Fodder Research Institute (IGFRI), based in Jhansi, is excited to announce a recruitment drive for the role of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) as part of a project centered on the genetics of guinea grass.
### Position Overview
IGFRI is set to hold a Walk-in Interview aimed at selecting a Junior Research Fellow for a research initiative titled ‘Identifying and Characterizing Candidate Genes Related to Polyploidy and/or Apomixes in Guinea Grass (Megathyrsus maximum)’. This is a temporary role expected to last until February 22, 2027, or until the project is completed.
**Essential Qualifications:**
– Applicants should hold a Master’s degree in relevant disciplines such as Agricultural Biotechnology, Molecular Biology & Biotechnology, Biotechnology, or Life Sciences, coupled with either a 4-year or 5-year Bachelor’s degree.
– Candidates with a 3-year Bachelor’s degree followed by a 2-year Master’s degree must have qualifying scores in NET or GATE.
**Desirable Qualifications:**
– Having a PhD in a related field, along with research experience in plant molecular biology, gene cloning, and tissue culture, is highly regarded.
**Age Criteria:**
– The age limit for male applicants is set at 35 years, while female candidates may apply up to 40 years of age. Age relaxations for SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates will be provided as per government norms.
### Salary and Benefits
The remuneration structure for the Junior Research Fellow position is as follows:
– ₹37,000 monthly for the initial two years.
– ₹42,000 per month in the third year.
– An additional House Rent Allowance (HRA) will be offered if on-campus housing is unavailable.
