WWE: Then. Now. Forever. Together.
Live from New York, it’s Monday Night Raw!
Superstar Arrivals: CM Punk, the Irresistible Forces, and Oba Femi
We get a shot walking into the crowd at MSG and then head to ringside…
“Wrestling has more than one royal family”
…as Cody Rhodes makes his entrance to kick off the show! We hear the crowd singing along with his theme as the Undisputed WWE Champion makes his way down the ramp. The crowd cheer as Rhodes enters the ring to pose, and a “Cody” chant breaks out as he grabs the microphone before asking the MSG crowd that all-important question…what do you wanna talk about?
Big pop from the crowd, but Cody is cut off by the music of Stephanie McMahon! Big reaction for Steph as she heads down to the ring, while commentary talks up her upcoming Hall of Fame induction. She responds to a “Stephanie” chant by asking them not to make her cry.
Cody says he’s surprised to see her here, but Steph says he shouldn’t as her name IS Stephanie McMahon, and this is the house her grandfather built. Cody asks what she wants to talk about, and she says she wants to talk about Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and WrestleMania…but Cody might not like what she has to say.
She talks about being “right over there” referring to a part of MSG, and hanging out with Andre the Giant. She, Cody, and Orton are multi-generational talents and know what it’s like to be at the top, with Cody taking the golden road…but she’s not sure he can handle this version of Randy Orton, a much more dangerous version than before.
She says perhaps the likes of Cody’s father could’ve handled Orton as he is now, but Cody is not his father. This version of Cody Rhodes cannot defeat this version of Randy Orton, and Cody has no idea who he’s dealing with. “Randy” chant from the crowd as Cody says the last thing he wants to be is rude to Steph…but he knows all about Randy Orton, running down a list of what Orton has done in the past.
He mentions that some of that stuff was toward Steph herself, and he knows there’s a swath of people who want this student-teacher dynamic but the student left long ago, when he had to play babysitter to Orton all those years ago. He goes back to Steph’s comment about Cody not being his father, and with all due respect…Steph isn’t hers, either. This gets a pop of shock from the crowd, which gets louder when Steph slaps the champ across the face.
She runs the champ down saying she never wanted to see the student out of Cody, but the reality is he is not ready for Orton come WrestleMania, and it will be the last time Cody will be introduced as the Undisputed WWE Champion. She starts to leave the ring but is pulled back by Cody Rhodes, who has two words for her…thank you.
His music hits as the champ makes his exit, and Raw moves on.
Backstage, IShowSpeed is looking for Danhausen. Say his name and he appears, as Danhausen offers to uncurse Speed in exchange for revenue. Nothing doing on that, but Pearce does have a front row seat for Speed tonight as he addresses LA Knight being the special guest commentator for the World Tag Team Championship Street Fight. Knight says hello and they walk off, leaving us with Pearce and Danhausen.
Pearce is confused about Danhausen not disappearing, eventually just walking off before we head back to ringside. The Usos (with what sounds like new music, finally!) make their entrance, set to defend the World Tag Team Championship in a Street Fight against The Vision…and that match is up next!
-Commercial Break-
We hear from LA Knight on commentary as The Vision make their entrance to get this tag title match underway!
WWE World Tag Team Championship Street Fight: The Usos defend against The Vision (Logan Paul and Austin Theory)
Logan goes after Jey as Jimmy sends Theory out of the ring, and this allows The Usos to take Paul to the outside joining his Vision pal…just as the champs make a big dive over the ropes to send their challengers to the floor before we go to ad break.
-Commercial Break-
We’re back from break and the plunder is a plenty, as The Vision have taken control with a pair of trashcans and a table propped up in the corner. They charge at Jey with the trashcans but end up colliding with each other instead, and this allows The Usos to fight back with some superkicks. They set a can over Theory before grabbing some kendo sticks, hammering away at Theory before garnering a “Yeet” from the crowd. Jimmy grabs the table to place it on the mat, sending Theory to the corner for a superkick before setting him up on the top turnbuckle…sending Austin through the table with a double superplex!
Logan is struggling at ringside, crawling over to his mother who starts to hand him a set of brass knuckles…but Knight won’t have any of it as he pulls Logan away. Speed gets caught in the middle of this, being pulled into the ringside area as well. Knight sends Paul away as Speed grabs the brass knuckles…and while he seems to be going for Paul with it, he ends up landing a shot on Knight instead!
Speed makes an escape up the ramp as back in the ring, The Usos continue to take the fight to Theory. Jimmy goes to the ropes, where Paul lands a brass knuckles shot on his head…and while Jey goes after Logan, Theory collapses over Jimmy to make the pin!
Winners via pinfall and new World Tag Team Champions: The Usos
Paul and Theory celebrate on the outside, telling Speed he needs to stick with them as we cut to a video package looking back at the issues between CM Punk and Roman Reign leading up to their match at WrestleMania 42. Both men are in the building here tonight!
Back at ringside, Liv Morgan makes her entrance. We’ll hear from her up next!
-Commercial Break-
We get a shot of a NYC subway station and celebs in the crowd including Jeff Ross and Lin-Manuel Miranda, before heading back to the ring where Liv Morgan awaits. Liv has a mic as she addresses New York City, saying they’re now in the presence of the greatest Royal Rumble winner of allllllllllllllllllllllllll…tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime.
Liv isn’t mincing words here as she tells Stephanie Vaquer she’s done, b—h. She runs the champ for coming after her family in the Judgment Day, asking if she’s scared to confront Liv face to face. She doesn’t know about what it’s like where Vaquer comes from, but where Liv comes from they know when it’s on sight. She then talks up her mother, before calling Steph’s trash in Spanish.
She tells Stephanie to come after her, and the champ obliges as her music hits and Vaquer makes a beeline for the ring. She lays the Royal Rumble winner out before going to ringside for a chair…but before she can do anything more, she gets blindsided by a returning Roxanne Perez! This allows the two JD ladies to beat the champ down, before Morgan drops her onto the chair with an Oblivion.
Morgan runs the champ down some more before she and Perez stand over her. Liv grabs the title and raises it up, ahead of facing Vaquer for the belt at WrestleMania.
We take a look back at Seth Rollins going after Paul Heyman last week, before being pulled away from ringside by some cops.
Backstage, The Vision try to reassure IShowSpeed he’s going to be fine. Heyman joins in this, asking the new champs to take their friend out for dinner to celebrate. The trio leave as Heyman remarks that The Usos are going to kill Speed, before Pearce talks to him about an email he sent the Oracle…only for Heyman to tell him to print it out and give it to him, before walking off.
Back at ringside, Lyra Valkyria and Bayley make their entrance for our next match. They will challenge the Irresistible Forces for the Women’s Tag Team Championship, and that match is up next!
-Commercial Break-
We head back to ringside as the champs finish making their entrance. We take a look back at SmackDown where the champs and challengers got involved in some business involving Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss and the Bellas. Back at ringside, this match gets underway!
WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Match: The Irresistible Forces (Nia Jax and Lash Legend) defend against Bayley and Lyra Valkyria
Legend and Bayley start things off, but Lash takes her down with a boot before tagging in Nia Jax. Bayley escapes a scoop slam for a tag to Lyra, who uses her agility to keep Nia off her game. Jax traps her in the corner as Lash tags in, but Valkyria breaks free before going to the corner. Legend catches her, sending her across the ring for a splash…but Lyra dodges it for a tag to Bayley!
Double dropkick leads to a cover by Bayley, but Lash kicks out at one. Lyra tags back in but both challengers anre dropped by Legend, who brings Lyra to the corner for a tag to Jax. Lyra fights both champs off before hitting the ropes for a dropkick. Blind tag by Bayley allows her to send Nia to the outside onto the table, and Lyra follows suit by taking Legend to the outside as we go to commercial.
-Commercial Break-
Saturday Night’s Main Event comes to Madison Square Garden on July 18!
Back in the ring, Lyra takes the fight back to Lash Legend with an enziguri before getting a tag to Bayley, who gets a two count before Lash fights back with a boot before tagging in Jax. Nia with a leg drop and the cover for a nearfall of her own.
Bayley is sent to the corner, but catches Jax by surprise with a powerbomb followed by the tag to Lyra, who gets a nearfall before Legend breaks it up. All four women go at it, knocking each other to the mat as we see The Bellas making their way to the ring…followed closely by Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss.
These four have words with each other until Valkyria comes out to tell them to go away, only to be blindsided by Nia Jax. She argues with the Bellas until Legend takes them out. Nikki gets propped up on the apron as the challengers try to get back in the swing of this match…but Flair and Bliss get involved and this match is essentially thrown out!
Match ends in a No Contest
Crowd boos as the champs are eventually sent out of the ring by the other three teams. This all feels very familiar to me…maybe because it’s almost exactly what happened on SmackDown last Friday. Anyway.
We take a look back at Oba Femi once again making a fool out of Brock Lesnar, at least in a manner of speaking, and up next we will hear from Lesnar live on Raw!
-Commercial Break-
During the break, Danhausen revealed to the crowd that Saturday Night’s Main Event returns to Madison Square Garden on July 18.
We return to ringside as Brock Lesnar makes his entrance, dressed to fight as Paul Heyman follows him down the ramp. Commentary talks about his match against Oba Femi at WrestleMania as The Beast walks to the ring. Paul has a mic as the crowd chants for Oba Femi. Paul introduces himself and Brock Lesnar.
