Jana Nayagan will be the last film of Vijay before he fully moves into politics. The film is directed by H. Vinoth, with Pooja Hegde playing the female lead. The film is slated for release on January 9, 2026, as a Sankranthi special.
While the Tamil release has been clear, there has been a lot of discussion around the Telugu version. Jana Nayagan is an official remake of Bhagavanth Kesari and will be released in Telugu as Jan Nayakudu. There were several rumours regarding the Telugu distribution rights. Reports claimed that Naga Vamsi of Sitara Entertainments had backed out, and that Dil Raju might come on board. The makers have now cleared the air.
It has been officially confirmed that PVR Inox Pictures will distribute the film in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. This has come as a surprise to many, especially with multiple big Telugu releases lined up for the Sankranthi season.
The major question now is about screen allocation. With stiff competition during the festival period, the number of single screens and rural reach will be crucial for the film’s performance in the Telugu states.
The film also stars Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, and Gautham Vasudev Menon in key roles. The film is produced by KVN Productions, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
