Toxic, which was set to clash with Dhurandhar: The Revenge, got postponed unexpectedly. The sudden development shocked movie buffs, and everyone thought Dhurandhar 2 would get a free run in India. However, much to the surprise of many, Pawan Kalyan’s Ustaad Bhagat Singh was announced for a March 19 release, and now the spotlight has shifted to Ustaad Bhagat Singh vs. Dhurandhar 2.
However, during promotions, Harish Shankar said that they are not competing with Dhurandhar 2. “Aditya Dhar is a very impactful and influential filmmaker. I watched his Uri: The Surgical Strike. We aren’t competing with Dhurandhar 2 at the PAN-Indian level. We are focusing only on the Telugu states,” said Harish Shankar.
He further said, “Distributors and producers wanted a Ugadi release. Both films belong to different zones. If, instead of Dhurandhar 2, there had been a Shah Rukh Khan entertainer with songs, then we would have been worried. But I feel both Ustaad Bhagat Singh and Dhurandhar 2 have their own set of audiences. The decision to release Ustaad Bhagat Singh on Ugadi is a collective one. Festivals like Ugadi and Sankranthi can easily accommodate two films.”
