Rethinking education for an AI-driven world; OG Capital bets on execution

Hello,

UK financial regulators are in urgent discussions with the government’s cyber security agency and major banks to evaluate risks linked to the latest AI model from Anthropic, the Financial Times reported.

Officials from the Bank of England, Financial Conduct Authority, and HM Treasury are working with the National Cyber Security Centre to assess potential vulnerabilities in critical IT systems flagged by the model, the report said.

Meanwhile, top finance officials from around the world will meet in Washington this week against the backdrop of the Middle East conflict, which has become the latest major shock to the global economy.

Officials from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank said last week they expect to downgrade global growth forecasts and raise inflation projections due to the war, warning that emerging and developing economies are likely to be hit hardest by higher energy costs and supply disruptions.

In other news, Australian teenager Gout Gout, 18, outpaced what sprint legend Usain Bolt had achieved at the same age, racing to a national 200m title on Sunday.

He posted a remarkable 19.67 seconds, setting a new world under-20 record and recording the fastest time globally this year. It also marked his first legal sub-20 run, following a wind-assisted 19.84 last season.

In today’s newsletter, we will talk about

  • OG Capital bets on execution

Rethinking education for an AI-driven world

Dreamtime

After exiting her K-12 education venture, Lina Ashar returned with a new mission: to rethink schooling for a rapidly changing, AI-driven world. Her latest venture, Dreamtime Learning, challenges traditional education through microschools and a focus on real-world, personalised learning.

Future Learning:

  • Dreamtime shifts the focus from rote academics to interdisciplinary understanding using subjects like literature to teach economics, behaviour, and critical thinking.
  • With small class sizes and competency-based progression, students learn at their own pace rather than being confined to rigid grade structures.
  • Built for an AI-disrupted world, Dreamtime emphasises adaptability, behavioural awareness, and real-world problem-solving over memorisation.

OG Capital bets on execution

OG Capital

After evaluating over 500 funds and backing multiple startups, Sayan Ghosh identified a recurring gap in venture capital: execution, not funding. This insight led to the launch of OG Capital, an execution-first fund that works closely with founders to build companies from the ground up.

Key takeaways:

  • Despite 300+ active VC funds in India, founders struggle more with operational execution than access to funding.
  • OG Capital embeds operators across GTM, product, and organisation, working alongside founders rather than offering only boardroom advice.
  • By investing in just 2–3 companies a year and prioritising hands-on support, OG Capital aims to build more resilient, profitable businesses.
