JKTPO organises Export Awareness-cum-E-Commerce onboarding drive in Anantnag

Anantnag, Dec 31: The Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organisation (JKTPO) organised an Export Awareness-cum-E-Commerce Onboarding drive in Anantnag to promote exports and digital market access for local producers.

The workshop was conducted in collaboration with the District Administration Anantnag, the One District One Product (ODOP) team, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) and the Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India (ECGC).

The primary objective of the programme was to empower local MSMEs, artisans, self-help groups (SHGs), farmer producer organisations (FPOs) and entrepreneurs by equipping them with practical knowledge on export procedures, government schemes and the use of e-commerce platforms for expanding market reach. The event aimed to connect local producers with national and international markets through digital channels while familiarising them with key Central and UT government initiatives.

At the outset, the JKTPO Manager highlighted the organisation’s role in conducting district-level outreach programmes to promote the ODOP initiative and facilitate the onboarding of local sellers on e-commerce platforms.

Addressing the gathering, the General Manager, District Industries Centre, Anantnag, said the district holds strong export potential in trout fish, cricket bats and scented rice (Mushkbudij). He said trout fish has been identified as the ODOP product for Anantnag and carries significant scope for exports and value-added derivatives. He added that the district administration is working closely with the government and export institutions to position Anantnag as an export hub under the Districts as Export Hubs initiative.

Rahul Sharma, Branch Manager, ECGC, explained the role of export credit insurance, credit risk coverage and related services, and briefed participants on ways to safeguard shipments and export proceeds. A Business Development Consultant from APEDA provided insights into the authority’s role in promoting agricultural exports and outlined the registration process and documentation requirements.

The role of the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) in providing market intelligence and trade information was also discussed, along with a detailed explanation of the procedure for obtaining an Import Export Code (IEC). Participants were briefed on key export-related government schemes, including MEIS, to help them enhance their understanding of available incentives.
