The Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIML) has launched a new Venture Capital and Private Equity (VCPE) programme in collaboration with edtech platform Emeritus, aimed at building investment expertise amid the rapid expansion of India’s VC and PE ecosystem.

India’s VCPE market is projected to reach $232 billion by 2030, with the country accounting for nearly 20% of Asia-Pacific’s total VCPE activity. As domestic startups scale up and global capital inflows increase, the demand for skilled professionals capable of deal sourcing, due diligence, valuation, portfolio management, and exits is growing sharply.
The newly launched programme is a nine-month, live online course, complemented by a three-day on-campus immersion at IIM Lucknow. It is designed for working professionals seeking end-to-end exposure across the venture capital and private equity investment lifecycle.

According to IIM Lucknow, the curriculum covers critical aspects of the investment process, including market assessment, fund structuring, valuation, portfolio strategy, exits, and emerging areas such as AI in investing and impact capital. The programme combines faculty-led sessions, hands-on workshops and a guided capstone project, where participants will engage in a team-based fund simulation to apply classroom learning to real-world investment scenarios.
Speaking at the launch, an IIM Lucknow faculty representative said that India’s capital ecosystem is entering a “defining decade,” and emphasised the need for professionals who can go beyond financial analysis to think strategically and lead responsibly across the VC and PE spectrum.

The programme will be taught by IIM Lucknow faculty members along with industry practitioners, offering participants exposure to both academic rigour and market perspectives. In addition to the online modules, the on-campus immersion will focus on leadership development, peer collaboration and networking.

IIM Lucknow said the programme is aimed at professionals looking to build careers in venture capital, private equity, family offices, corporate investment arms, and related roles, as India’s investment landscape continues to evolve rapidly.
