The Central Asian venture capital market was valued at approximately $320 million in 2025, according to a RISE Research report. The findings were presented at the Central Eurasia Venture Forum in Tashkent, which convened about 800 participants this year, including investors and technology firms from multiple global regions.

Over its five iterations, the forum has attracted more than 5,000 attendees from 50 countries and has been associated with deals surpassing $34 million. An economic development counsellor for Central Asia noted the event signals wider shifts in the region’s economic framework, calling it a positive indicator for private sector-led growth.

Data from the forum shows rising investment in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Uzbekistan recorded $8.3 billion in foreign investment in the initial two months of 2026, with an annual target of $53 billion. The nation’s startup and venture ecosystem was valued at $3.9 billion for the 2024-2025 period, with over 750 active startups and 15 venture funds holding combined capital above $180 million. Government objectives aim to grow the startup count to 5,000 by 2030, assist 200 firms in reaching international markets, and raise venture investment to $2 billion.

In Kazakhstan, venture investment hit $209 million, and total startup valuation went beyond $2.16 billion. Between 2023 and 2025, artificial intelligence represented a significant portion of this activity. Venture funding for AI in the country grew from about $14 million to $73 million, constituting over half of all venture investment. Most AI startups in Kazakhstan concentrate on applied business solutions for various industries.

At the forum, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development named 13 finalists for the inaugural Central Asian group of its Star Venture programme, seven of which are based in Uzbekistan. Uzbek authorities are implementing a four-stage support system for startups, encompassing grants, tax incentives, co-financing, and export assistance.

The CEO of a regional accelerator pointed to regulatory actions and state programmes as factors influencing development speed, tracing a key initiative to a late 2024 presidential decree. He observed the emergence of many new funds, suggesting the ecosystem and country are prepared for this progress, aided by regulations introduced this year.

Cross-border collaboration within Central Asia is becoming more common in investment activity. The founder of a Kazakh capital firm mentioned working with partners at the Astana International Financial Centre to facilitate transactions and market entry, adding that regional projects are now actively seeking funding from local funds in Uzbekistan. A co-founder of another firm highlighted the growing role of private capital, noting that an angel club invested $300,000 last year, a shift from earlier reliance on state or bank funding.
